Ngorongoro Crater

Our second day on safari was spent in the Ngorongoro Crater. It is a truly spectacular location, and we were spoilt with animals surrounding the safari car most of the time.

The Maasai live in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (the park) and mingle with the wild animals whilst herding their cattle.

The lions we encountered were happy to lie in the shade of the safari cars parked around them. They were casually watching a herd of buffalo in the distance, every now and again moving closer.

After lunch we drove back to where the lions were previously and witnessed a fantastic sight. The buffaloes were chasing the pack of lions away, and doing a pretty good job of it too.
