Scenes from the school house this week

We have been doing lots of fun things during the week leading up to the Christmas break (which began today!!).
Oliver likes to help Paskalina make the chapatis when we have them for lunch.
Another mole has appeared in the backyard with these mounds of dirt appearing very quickly between breaks - I'd love to actually see one.
 Oliver's project.

Swimming has been a fun activity, but no-one stays in very long as they think it is too cold (must be a Tanzanian thing as we don't mind it).
Magdalena brought in an ostrich egg for us to look at. It was a very old one.
It is illegal to collect ostrich eggs now - although the ladies say that Tanzanians enjoy ostrich egg soup, so I don't know how that works.
She delighted the children by opening the egg with a nail - the contents were very watery and smelly.
We collected and collated work, and then sent it all home today, for the parents to see what their children have been doing.
We made Christmas wreaths from coathangers and garbage bags - one of my favourite Christmas crafts.
And Andrew donned a Santa hat to give out gifts today.
